Paint Correction

Eliminating swirl marks, scratches, and imperfections with multi-stage machine polishing

What is Paint Correction?

Paint correction is the process of permanently removing surface imperfections from your vehicle's clear coat through controlled machine polishing. Unlike fillers or glazes that temporarily mask defects, correction physically levels the clear coat to eliminate swirl marks, light scratches, water spots, and oxidation.

At Dainton's, we use a combination of dual-action and rotary polishing machines paired with professional-grade compounds and pads. Each stage progressively refines the surface, revealing the true depth and clarity of your paintwork.

Paint correction is a skilled craft that requires patience, experience, and the right environment. Our purpose-built studios in Reading provide controlled lighting and temperature conditions essential for achieving flawless results.

Common Questions

This depends on the severity of the defects. Light swirls may only need a single-stage polish, while deeper scratches and heavy marring require two or three stages. We assess every vehicle individually and recommend the appropriate level.

Paint correction removes defects within the clear coat layer. If a scratch has penetrated through to the primer or base coat, it cannot be fully removed by polishing alone. We always assess scratch depth before proceeding.

Yes. Paint correction creates the ideal foundation for both PPF and ceramic coating. Any imperfections present in the paint will be locked in once either product is applied, so correction beforehand ensures the best possible result.

What Our Correction Clients Say

Brought my M4 in for a stage 2 paint correction and the results are staggering. Swirl marks completely gone, the finish looks better than when it left the showroom. Worth every penny and will be going back for PPF soon.
